OUR BELIEF

We believe that the whole Bible (consisting of 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books) is fully inspired by God. We recognise only these 66 books (the Holy Scriptures) as the Word of God. It contains no error and is wholly reliable in its history and all its teaching. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The New Testament is a reliable witness to the character and authorship of the Old Testament.
2. We believe there is only one God. This one God eternally exists as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are equally God. This God is sovereign in creation, in His control of all events and in the giving of salvation.
3. We believe that as a result of Adam’s sin every member of the human race is born with a totally corrupt nature. This means that the Holy Spirit’s work of regeneration is necessary before any member of the human race can be saved.
4. We believe that the Lord Jesus has two natures - He is truly God and He is a real and perfect man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless and perfect life, His death to save His people from their sin, His bodily resurrection and His ascension into Heaven. We recognise the authority of His teaching, and the infallibility of all His utterances. We believe He is now seated at the right hand of God interceding for His people.
5. We believe that a sinner is justified (declared not guilty) solely by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
6. We believe that only the Holy Spirit can give us a true and spiritual understanding of the Scriptures. He alone can give us new life (regeneration), give us power to overcome our sinful nature (conversion) and make us holy (sanctification). He is the true source of all spiritual ministry and worship.
7. We believe the church is the body of Christ of which He is the Head. All true believers are called by God through the gospel. They are born of the Spirit and justified by faith; the local Church, comprising such believers is part of the Church Universal; fellowship between such churches, manifests the unity of the Body of Christ.
The Lord Jesus commands all believers to be baptized and to unite regularly with other believers at the Lord’s Table. Baptism is a symbol that a believer is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, but it does not make a person a believer. We respect all baptisms administered in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Lord’s Supper is a regular reminder to every believer of the love of Jesus for them demonstrated by His death on the Cross. It is in no sense a sacrifice for sin, nor does it involve any change in the substance of the bread and the wine.
8. We believe that at the end of time the Lord Jesus Christ will return to this world in glory.
9. We believe that at the end of time there will be a physical resurrection of every person who has ever lived. This will be followed by the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked.
10. We believe in the great Commission as stated in Matthew 28: 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
11. We believe that God’s design for marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment before God for a lifetime (Gen. 2:18-25; Matt. 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-8; 1 Pet. 3:1-7.)
It is God’s command that those who enter marriage shall, in mutual love and respect, live in exclusive fidelity to one another.
Marriage is God’s unique gift that mirrors the union between Christ and His Church (The Bride, Eph. 5:22-33), and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the only framework for intimate companionship (Gen. 2:18), the exclusive channel for all and any sexual expression according to biblical standards (Gen. 2:24-25), and the means for procreation of the human race (Gen 1:28). Celibacy is the biblical standard for all believers, regardless of biological gender until united before God in one-man and one-woman marriage.
